9.
Buildroot is a set of Makefiles and patches that makes it easy to
10. generate a complete embedded Linux system. Buildroot can generate any
11. or all of a cross-compilation toolchain, a root filesystem, a kernel
12. image and a bootloader image. Buildroot is useful mainly for people
13. working with small or embedded systems, using various CPU
14. architectures (x86, ARM, MIPS, PowerPC, etc.) : it automates the
15. building process of your embedded system and eases the
16. cross-compilation process.

17.
The major Buildroot features are:

18.

19.
Can handle everything in your embedded system development
20. project: cross-compiling toolchain, root filesystem generation,
21. kernel image compilation and bootloader compilation. Buildroot is
22. also sufficiently flexible that it can also be used for only one or
23. several of these steps.

24.
Is very easy to set up, thanks to its menuconfig, gconfig
25. and xconfig configuration interfaces, familiar to all embedded Linux
26. developers. Building a basic embedded Linux system with Buildroot
27. typically takes 15-30 minutes.

28.
Supports several hundreds of packages for userspace
29. applications and libraries: X.org stack, Gtk2, Qt, DirectFB, SDL,
30. GStreamer and a large number of network-related and system-related
31. utilities and libraries are supported.

32.
Supports multiple filesystem types for the root
33. filesystem image: JFFS2, UBIFS, tarballs, romfs, cramfs, squashfs
34. and more.

35.
Can generate an (e)glibc or uClibc cross-compilation toolchain,
36. or re-use your existing glibc, eglibc or uClibc cross-compilation
37. toolchain

38.
Has a simple structure that makes it easy to understand
39. and extend. It relies only on the well-known Makefile language.

40.
